a little stitch of heaven

ABOUT

hello! my name is basil and i am a non-binary artist that makes small felt dolls of people, characters, animals and more! i started my shop in 2017 by the suggestion of my friends once i began making the dolls for myself.when i began my shop, i used a “pay what you can” system, as i was still learning to sew and wasn’t sure what my dolls were worth, but eventually i decided to value my time and effort more.while in the past i’ve done collections (including disney princesses, tim burton characters, animal crossing villagers, and horror film icons), the vast majority of my work comes from commissions. i am so unbelievably grateful to all of my customers who have given me the chance to turn something i love into a job!

my first doll ever!

  • i wish i could price them lower, genuinely, but so much work goes into these, especially those with a lot of detail and embroidery

FAQ

WHY DO YOUR DOLLS COST SO MUCH?i put so much effort and love into my dolls, and i typically make (at most) $10 per hour of work, with shipping costs coming out of my end. my dolls are handmade over an average of 7-10 hours, not including prep work (drawing out the designs, cutting felt, etc), and not including supply cost even if i buy extra pieces for one specific doll. additionally, my time estimates which i base my pricing on are almost always less than the amount of time i end up spending on the dolls, not more. i would love to price them lower, but with how long they take, and me working another job and being in grad school, i have to value my time as much as possible.WHY DO YOU REQUIRE PAYMENT UPFRONT?for a long time, i allowed customers to wait until the doll was finished to pay, to ensure that they were happy with the finished product. however, this led to many cases of spending hours making custom dolls for people who would ghost me before payment, which left me stuck with dolls i could never sell to anyone else that i had spent my time, materials, and effort on. this is why i now require payment before i begin working.DO YOU ONLY MAKE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS?not at all! in addition to characters, i have made celebrities, my clients and their families, friends, and significant others, several species of animals, ocs, fursonas, and even Kirby With Knife. if you’re unsure of whether or not i can make what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to reach out through dms!HOW DO I COMMISSION A DOLL?the best way to reach me for a commission is through my twitter or instagram dms at @stitchofheaven. i check these regularly (especially twitter), and will get back to you as soon as i can!HOW LONG WILL MY DOLL TAKE TO MAKE AND ARRIVE?a single doll is typically finished within 5-7 days of being commissioned (if there is no one ahead of you). i do work another job and attend grad school aside from this shop, which limits the amount of time i can spend on my dolls per day. if i have another order ahead of yours, or if i am particularly busy and expect the doll to take longer, i will let you know up front. once the finished doll is approved, i ship them out the next morning and send out tracking numbers. domestic orders typically arrive in 3-5 business days, while international orders can take several weeks.I HAVE A QUESTION NOT LISTED HEREdm me on twitter or instagram and i will answer any questions!
